Join OTAC for our first in-person Hill Day since 2019!

Learn more about the legislative process and how to advocate for occupational therapy while having fun networking with fellow OT practitioners and students from around the state!

WHEN: Thursday February 23rd 11:30-4:30 pm (Optional Happy Hour at a local bar/restaurant will follow from 4:30-6:00)

WHERE: Capitol Hill in Downtown Denver

WHY: The purpose of OTAC Hill Day is to represent and advocate for OT practice in Colorado with our state legislators. The 2023 Colorado legislature is made up of many new senators and representatives and Hill Day is a great opportunity for us to connect with and educate these legislators about what we do and how we impact the lives of the people we work with.

Itinerary at a Glance (subject to change) 

11:30-12:00: Check-in, name tags 

12:00-1:30: Group Meeting with Legislators - Opportunity for different members of the legislature to talk about their personal journey with public policy, connection to occupational therapy in their personal lives, how we can communicate with them, what bills they are working on this session. 

1:30-2:00: Lobbying Preparation and Organization - With support and education from our lobbyists. 

2:00-4:00: Lobbying/Tour - During this time frame you will have two options:

1. Lobbying: join a small group that will visit specific legislator offices to share about occupational therapy.

2. Capital Building Tour (limited to 10)

4:00-4:30: Wrap Up 

4:30-6:00: OPTIONAL Happy Hour at a bar/restaurant near the capitol building. (OTAC will purchase appetizers, additional drinks and food responsibility of attendee)

REGISTRATION COST:

OTAC Members - FREE (includes up to 4.5 FREE CE credits)

Practitioner Non-Member:  $15.00 includes FREE CE credits and OTAC membership for 90 days (or join as a full member prior to registering for the event to attend free).

Student Non-Member: $5.00 includes OTAC membership for 90 days (or join as a full member prior to registering for the event to attend free).

Why a cost for non-members?

1.  OTAC represents and advocates for the OT profession in Colorado so participants must be OTAC members during Hill Day to be a representative of OTAC during Hill Day activities.

2. OTAC membership directly supports the expense of OTAC lobbyists and OTAC's advocacy efforts.
