WHY SHOULD I BECOME AN OTAC MEMBER?

We are better together!

We also have fun together!

The advocacy and support activities of OTAC are supported by your membership dues!

Your dues support our primary expense of advocacy and legislative efforts on behalf of occupational therapy practice in the state of Colorado. This includes the expense of our two lobbyists,  Steve Balcerovich and Tim Coleman. Our lobbyists help us monitor important legislation that affects OT practice, update our state practice act ( due for renewal 2030), and guide us in drafting legislation and providing testimony in the state legislature as well as guiding us with advocacy efforts with payer sources and state agencies.

Exciting updates! In 2022 OTAC created and helped pass House Bill 22-1068 - Medicaid Reimbursement for Therapy Using Equines -  with the help of our lobbyists and an advisory committee. This bill allows, for the first time, for Medicaid reimbursement for OT, SLP, and PT for using a horse as a therapy tool!

OTAC also successfully advocated in 2024 for Medicaid reimbursement for OT service for adults (over 21) with a mental health diagnosis. (OT services previously could only be billed under a physical diagnosis code.)

OTAC is preparing for more exciting advocacy efforts in 2025!

THANK YOU OTAC MEMBERS! YOU MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE!
