What do you love about OT?
I love the incredible diversity within our expertise and practice areas, spanning everything from mental health to acute care to sensory integration. This breadth allows us to make meaningful impacts across a wide range of settings and populations, tailoring our interventions to meet each person’s unique needs and goals.
How did you choose this profession?
I discovered occupational therapy while working with an adaptive sports program that offered outdoor recreation and sports activities to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. Participants would often tell me that the best days of their lives were spent skiing, rafting, or camping with us.
Hearing that inspired me to find a way to make a more lasting impact on their lives, beyond those few days of adventure. That’s what led me to pursue a career in occupational therapy—so I could help people achieve meaningful, everyday goals that bring joy and independence into their lives.
Why are you an OTAC member?
I’m an OTAC member because I believe in contributing to our collective voice. When issues arise that affect our practice, settings, or clients, being part of OTAC allows us to act as a united front to address these concerns effectively.
My membership supports crucial lobbying efforts at the state level, helping to protect and expand our practice areas, advocate for the populations we serve, and ensure fair compensation for occupational therapy professionals in Colorado
What is your favorite thing to do in Colorado?
My husband and I both grew up in Colorado and recently moved back to help take care of my parents. Being close to family and spending time with them is one of my favorite things about living here. We also really missed playing in the mountains and having quick access to outdoor adventures while living in other states.
