What do you love about OT?
How did you choose this profession?
I learned about occupational therapy while working for an adaptive sports program that provided outdoor recreation and sport activities to people with intellectual and physical disabilities. I would hear participants repeatedly say how the best days of their lives were when they were skiing, rafting or camping with us. I wanted to make an impact and improve their lives beyond those few days they spent with us. So, I pursued occupational therapy.
Why are you an OTAC member?
I’m an OTAC member to add to our collective voice so that when issues arise that affect our practice, our setting, and our clients, we act as a united front to raise our concerns. My OTAC membership supports our lobbying efforts at the state level to ensure we maintain and even expand our practice area, the people we serve and our pay in Colorado.
