OTAC's 2024 Hill Day

Hill Day 2024 was a great success!

OTAC members were able to meet with six state legislators to discuss the importance of the OT profession, hear their personal stories and issues they are passionate about, and request support for future legislation that will allow OTP's to prescribe durable medical equipment (DME). This future bill is a late bill request for the 2024 session, and if delayed will be introduced early in the 2025 session.

Legislators were very supportive of this effort to improve timely access to necessary DME and validate OTP's as the experts in evaluation and prescribing of DME for clients.

Thank you to these legislators who took time out of their very busy schedule to met with us:

  • Representative Mary Young
  • Senator Rhonda Fields
  • Senator Chris Kolker
  • Representative Lindsey Daughtery
  • Representative Kyle Brown
  • Representative Andrew Boesenecker

Participants also learned about the legislative process, the history of the state capitol building and observed the House and Senate chambers and committees in session. Everyone who attended enjoyed the day and learned a lot about the legislative process and the ongoing advocacy efforts of OTAC on behalf of Colorado OT practice and OT practitioners.

Thank you to all who were able to attend, especially with re-scheduling!

Join us next year when hopefully the weather cooperates better!
